Patrick SFB Commissary

The Patrick Space Force Base Commissary is a working grocery store for the military community, and The Jenkins Group's charge was to modernize it without taking it offline. The firm prepared the architectural and refrigeration-upgrade documents — reworking the interior, the building systems, and a CO2 refrigeration plant engineered to hold performance through a utility power outage — then revised the full contract documents as DeCA's program requirements evolved.

Commissary work lives or dies on the refrigeration system, and here it drove the architecture: case layouts, equipment rooms, structural support, and the envelope all coordinate around it. The result is a store built to keep perishable goods moving reliably, meet DeCA's proprietary design standards, and absorb the daily wear of a high-volume retail operation on a federal installation.
