Ultra Grocery

The Ultra Foods Market in Prospect Heights is a full reinvention of a former Dominick's store — an 87,090-square-foot adaptive reuse that gave the building a new exterior face and a completely remodeled interior. The Jenkins Group refreshed floors, ceilings, and lighting and rolled out the Ultra décor package across a full-service grocery.

The store offers produce, bakery, seafood, deli, and meat departments alongside specialty sushi, fresh-sandwich, and salad-bar stations and a mezzanine dining area — turning an aging supermarket into a current shopping experience, down to the front-entry structural shoring that made it possible.

Reusing a grocery store is renovation at full speed — the doors have to open Monday.
